The Leatherman Multitool
If a Swiss Army Knife made sweet love to a pair of pliers, nine months later, you would get a Leatherman Multitool. Fortunately for us, you don’t have to wait that long, and you can just pick one up at your sporting goods or hardware store. These compact, highly functional wonders are perfect for minimalists, like me, who don’t want a box full of tools that you might use once every couple of years. They’re also great for camping and keeping in the car in case you find your self in a jam. I’ve had my Leatherman Wave model forever and it’s super handy. There are many models, and they typically include functions like pliers, wire cutters, wire stripper, plain and serrated knives, saw, spring-action scissors, ruler, can and bottle openers, files, and screwdrivers. Super handy and a nice gift. (hint, hint). Timothy Leatherman patented his first multitool, “Mr. Crunch” in 1980.
